LIPPISCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR KUNST 2018
From 9th of September to 14th October, the photographer Christoph Köster will be exhibiting his portraits of Brazilian old men in the castle of Detmold.
The analogue black and white images tell the stories of people on the fringes of today's society. Many of them have never been in front of a camera. With his mobile studio - consisting of a curtain, a stool and his camera - Christoph Köster traveled through the north-east of Brazil to photograph the old Vaqueiros, whose everyday life once consisted of fighting against nature and for their cattle.
The exhibition is supported and organized by the Lippische Gesellschaft für Kunst.
The Lippische Gesellschaft für Kunst promotes in public the critical understanding of artistic creation in painting, graphics, sculpture, architecture, handicrafts, industrial form, photography and in many other areas.

PROJETO CASSINO 2017
The IED Rio (European Institute of Design) and TAL Projects present the exhibition "Cassino" by Heleno Bernardi. The exhibition shows collected pieces such as walls, the stage or the orchestra pit of the destroyed theatre Lendário teatro do Cassino da Urca, which Heleno Bernardi sprays with golden glitter. This intervention is a "metaphorical allusion to the glorious days, to the richness that attracted the players, to the splendour of the artists and also to the transience of happiness that carried itself through the roles".

KÖLNER LISTE 2017
About Carola's Work.
Multi-layered tension curves between the classical categories of painting and drawing. Carola Ernst creates no „expression art“, but pictures of the complexity which remind of works of the revolutionary modern age, but still originate before the background of the digital revolution.
About Rafael's Work.
How could one possibly give voice - through painting - to the most mundane events and how small fragments of ordinary life might be able to communicate concerns, experiences, observations or simply records of an existence? This question could summarize most of my concerns as an artist. My work consists in building abstract visual chronicles, results of the everyday experience in the city.
These paintings that can embody various shapes, acquire multiple bodies and visualities resulting from recognition of both material and from the city‘s imagery. A species of abstract paintings, contaminated by the visuality of the site.
The foundation of my pictorial system is the transmutation of real objects with which we live in routinely into paintings. Using traditional materials from artistic paints to industrial materials such as adhesive tapes, rubber bands, wheat paste posters or fragments from everyday objects, addressing in such manner my constant interests. From Styrofoam coolers, computer monitors, garments and other objects into subjects of my paintings.

About Afonso Tostes and his works.
The message over the victory of Troy reached Greece via the sea. Wooden fires were lit from island to island, and the flames could be seen over vast distances until the message had reached its final destination. They were lit by prisoners who were put out there and humiliated for years in order to fulfill their sole purpose of lighting these fires. The fire images of these invisible but crucial actors were, however, indispensable to the development of the upcoming history.
These, as well as other, not less invisible, actors take a fundamental role in our survival and our culture. The workers, primarily those of the fields, are represented here by their used and consumed tools, which in their appearance sustain the memory of those who work to make food available to us. At its ends there are formed bones which represent the extension of the arms of these male and female workers. To show the fire images with the tools of the workers sends me on another journey, namely, the history of the Africans who were shipped to America as slaves and became those who were invincible and maintained the countrythrough their work. The presentation of the fire in these pictures announces the desired victory, asit did in the Orestie. The victory, that is still come!

INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION AT OBERHAFEN
The six artists Rafael Alonso, Heleno Bernardi, Afonso Tostes, Carola Ernst, Christoph Köster and Matthias Köster will present their works, paintings, sculptures and photographs at the group exhibition RIO|HAMBURG in the historical Oberhafen Hamburg.
While Afonso Tostes is approaching the theme of the artistic exchange of two different cultures with a sculpture of old dolphins from the open-air port of Hamburg, Christoph Köster shows black-and-white portraits of the old cowboys from the north-east of Brazil. Rafael Alonso, in turn, used tape, inspired by Rio's drinks sellers to create his works, and Heleno Bernardi produced transient sculptures which he then photographed. Carola Ernst contributes with her complex and abstract pictures to the exchange of cultures, as Matthias Köster with its painting on aluminum on 7m.
The exhibition is an event of the Oh! Quadro Pop Up Gallery.
